Salzburg, 23-Aug to 26-Aug

Arrived in Salzburg using the 'Bayern Ticket' which makes group travel in Bavaria very affordable. Checked out the bike rental shop to pick up panniers so we could prepack them, and made it to the apartment to the south of Salzburg. Then in the afternoon a hike at Glasenbach-Klamm Wanderweg, a river trail known for fossils.

And back into Salzburg to find a grocery store. Many places grocery stores are closed all day Sunday and sometimes short hours on Saturday too.

Sunday, the next day, the target was Schloss Hellbrun, about 4 kms away. Schloss Hellbrun, a renaissance villa known for its gardens and the trick water fountains! The fountain garden is a series of stations all powered hydraulically. Clearly the builder was a practical joker and would gather his guests at the outdoor table and then spray them both from the sides and upwards through the stools they sat on!

Arrival in Munich

Well, actually Munich, but only one day! We all arrived in Munich within 30 minutes of each other and spent a day there before moving on to Salzburg.

And this is Munich!

Like very where else it has churches...

And here we have couples dancing in the park gazebo!

And next day onto Salzburg. There's a great fare deal here, the Bayern Pass for travel all over Bavaria. 30 Euros for the first person, 10 Euros each for the next 4.
